ALL ABOUT THE VIEW CAMERA

SO, as we already know, although the view camera was first developed in the era of the Daguerreotype, its still used today by many photographers.
Before i go into that i want to talk about the actual mechanics thatmake up the view camera, here is a pretty crappy image of it:

The reason I say this image is crappy, is because it does not point out the most important component of the view camera, which is the flexible bellows, which forms a light-tight seal between the ground glass which holds the film and the front standard which holds the lens. The bellows , shaped like the inside of an accordion, and likewise has the ability to flex in order to accommodate the movements of the standards.

The Front standard holds the lens, the shutter and the cable.
The other end holds the ground glass, which is used for for focusing and composing the image before exposure, where the holder containing the light sensitive film or paper is placed.

Lastly the camera must have some means of support, thus it is usually mounted on a tripod, as shown in the picture.
