yo! check it.

I've been messing around with green screen and having single colors in video.
Here are some still from the green screen attempt and the color attempt.
The green screen was done in Final Cut and the color was in After Effects.
Green Screen:
I'm gonna reshoot in HD so the hand/arm is in better quality.

And these are from After Effects:
The first is only the chair, then only the trees, then only the jacket and then just generally desaturated.

Michelle's Notes

My Final Project:
portable beauty for urban spaces
outdoor "tent"/"half-dome" structure
(check out shelter-systems.com)

I'll be constructing tree pattern/layout in photoshop then printing out on fabric to create structure

pattern:

I started out by using this (i used the 8'/11' yurt dome pattern), i built the model then began to make alterations to the design so it would work for what i wanted to do and this is my final design:

constructed model:

the final piece will be constructed out of PVC tubing frame with a silk pattern
I haven't created a scale model yet, but i plan on making this structure large enough for 2 people to sit/lay/hangout out it.... the height will be somewhere between 4-6 feet tall.... i have to make more models

Sarah and Michelle

First off, Michelle, I'm sorry about your hard drive, I lost my MFA thesis in April, work had to be up early May... I've probably said this before, well, you just don't forget an event like that. So I know the situation feels just awful. I really hope the recovery effort works... and I'm sure its expensive. Now, I should be an expert at backing up files... and I'm ok at it, but not as consistent as I should be. However, I am aware at every interval between back-ups that I'm living dangerously. So the issue of backing-up is probably on your mind too right now. I think it just gets harder and harder as the files get bigger and more numerous. For photo work, usually a DVD is good enough... holds enough, or a few DVD's, but it does take time to do it. Other folks buy a large second hard drive and make an exact copy of their main hard drive every week. Ideally, this back-up, in whatever form, is placed in a different location from your main drive (in case of flood or fire or theft.)

Sarah: way to go! Thanks for sharing the examples, you just keep getting better, and creepier (changing her nose?) Great demos!

liquify tool

using a tutorial from lynda.com i made her nose and mouth smaller using the liquify filter. i also did some basic skin retouching. right is before, left is after.
