First off, Michelle, I'm sorry about your hard drive, I lost my MFA thesis in April, work had to be up early May... I've probably said this before, well, you just don't forget an event like that. So I know the situation feels just awful. I really hope the recovery effort works... and I'm sure its expensive. Now, I should be an expert at backing up files... and I'm
ok at it, but not as consistent as I should be. However, I am aware at every interval between back-ups that I'm living dangerously. So the issue of backing-up is probably on your mind too right now. I think it just gets harder and harder as the files get bigger and more numerous. For photo work, usually a DVD is good enough... holds enough, or a few
DVD's, but it does take time to do it. Other folks buy a large second hard drive and make an exact copy of their main hard drive every week. Ideally, this back-up, in whatever form, is placed in a different location from your main drive (in case of flood or fire or theft.)
Sarah: way to go! Thanks for sharing the examples, you just keep getting better, and creepier (changing her nose?) Great demos!
